special olympic canterbury basketball

Another part of my work outside of the Police that I'm passionate about is serving athletes with disabilities. I'm a part of the Special Olympic Canterbury Basketball coaching staff and the Whaikaha Basketball Trust for High-Performance Disability Basketball.

We had the opportunity in January of this year to take over our New Zealand men's team and a couple of our girls to play in the Ivor Burge Tournament in Ballarat, Australia. Well done, Basketball Australia, for an amazing tournament and welcoming us with open arms.

It was so inspiring to see so many athletes showcase their skills on the basketball court. The commitment and love shown by all coaching staff, families and supporters was incredible!

We have the Special Olympics being held in Christchurch this December, and I can't wait to see more of our teams inspire those who attend by just being their best self.
